Ontario's new minister for Indigenous Affairs, Greg Rickford, says there's still a stand-alone ministry at Queen's Park. He adds the ministry also has staff and resources to support their work.
When he was sworn-in to cabinet last week, Rickford also took on two other ministries. He also oversees Northern Development and Mines, as well as Energy.
Rickford had previously served as the minister for natural resources in Ottawa. He was the MP for Kenora between 2008 and 2015.
Following last week's swearing-in ceremony, there were concerns the province's Ministry for Indigenous Affairs might be absorbed into the others Rickford was overseeing.
