Longbow Lake fire chief Warren Brinkman says they've called in the fire marshall's office, in order to help determine the cause of yesterday's fire at Redden's. He said his firefighters had a long day.
"It was a long day, and the temperatures were running around 28, 29 C," he said. "For anybody who's ever put on turnout gear, it gets to be pretty stressful."
After getting the call at around noon, Brinkman said he finally called it a day around 9 p.m. last night. However, the fire chief's back at it today, as he gets ready for investigators from the fire marshall's office to arrive.
"We'll get at taking a look at the scene and hopefully we can come up with some sort of cause," he added.
The fire started in the garage area of a new construction at Redden's on the east highway. The estimated loss is $500,000 to $750,000, but the owners were able to continue doing business in temporary quarters.
