The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry have declared Kenora Fire 71 under control. The lightning caused fire has been burning since July 15.
The fire spans 10,270 hectares and is approximately 80 kilometres north of Kenora near the Manitoba border.
Up to 200 firefighters, including many from out-of-province and the Great Lakes States, participated in the suppression effort at its peak.
A total of 18 crews and nine helicopters remain on the fire in its ‘mop-up’ phase.
