Lake of the Woods District Hospital has announced it's taken steps towards undergoing an independent operational review.
The hospital notes it continues to face service and financial pressures associated with the challenges of its rural geography, population health profile, and the new system of funding reform.
The hospital is working the North West Local Health Integration Network to develop the terms of reference for an independent operational review. The terms of reference describe the scope of work that is to be undertaken by an independent review team. The team will analyze, evaluate and ultimately provide recommendations on opportunities that they discover during their review.
A request for proposal will go out within the next six weeks to obtain an independent consultant. A review will begin as soon as possible following the selection process.
The process will include an assessment of all facets of LWDH; including but not limited to:
- Clinical services
- Clinical quality
- Hospital operations and corporate services
- Internal and external integration
- Accountability and capacity
- Funding reform and financial management
- Leadership and governance
The review assessment will lead to a set of operational recommendations that will be addressed through a work-plan.
