Firefighters often have to do their jobs in the worst weather, at the most inopportune time. So, they didn't mind gathering in the relative warmth of the Kenora fire hall for a bit of weekend practice.
"We don't do a lot of training, so it's nice to come out here with a different set of eyes and help us with our gear," said Richard Doucette of Weyerhaeuser between sessions.
In particular, Turcotte was also pleased to have more time to practice with self-contained breathing apparatus
Participants came from as far away as Ignace to be part of the program.
