Kenora's own Wade Gagnon was honored recently. Gagnon is the Kenora District Services Board (KDSB) Northwest Emergency Medical Services (NW EMS) Superintendent of Operations for the West Region, and he received the 30 year Exemplary Service Medal.
The medal recognizes Emergency Medical Services professionals for honourable dedication and service. Gagnon was honoured for his positive impact with his patients, his co-workers and his community.
The award is not a long service medal and instead recognizes those professionals who have performed their duties in an exemplary manner, characterized by the highest standards of good conduct, industry and efficiency. To qualify, at least ten of these years of service must have been street level duty involving potential risk to the individual.
He was among approximately 70 Emergency Medical Services professionals in all of Ontario to be recognized for their 30-year and 40-year Exemplary Service Medals in 2018.
