Kaija Saarinen, the owner of Kenora’s Green and Gone Pest Solutions, has won Northern Ontario Business’ Young Entrepreneur of the Year award at the recent Influential Women of Northern Ontario Awards.
“It was really surreal. I was so surprised. Everyone has been so supportive my whole way through. I wouldn’t be here without all of the community support and all of the business support as well.”
Saarinen was one of 13 women from northern Ontario communities that were honoured for their accomplishments at the awards ceremony last month.
Green and Gone Pest Solutions focuses on removing pests in residential and commercial buildings, in a natural and less harmful way. Saarinen has degrees in environmental and resource studies and biology.
Saarinen credits the Northwest Business Centre and the Centre for Women’s Enterprise for their support. She was one of the youth involved in the business centre’s Starter Company Plus program just over two years ago.
