Ice Patrol Pilot Tim Armstrong is heading up a new project. He's going by Timothy Gwyn as he's releasing his debut science fiction novel, "Avians".
Gwyn spoke about the premise behind the book.
“It's science fiction for young adults. It has a strong aviation influence because of what I do for a living, but it takes aviation in a different direction, in a different world. There's no fossil fuels, no metals, and flying is not easy, or safe,” he said.
Gwyn then spoke about how long the book took to create.
“It took years. I was learning the craft as I went. When I first started, I didn't even realize I was writing a novel, I was just writing some scenes,” he said.
Gwyn noted that he's headed to Calgary's When Worlds Collide writing convention tomorrow, for the official launch.
Gwyn is also planning an event on the 15th, at the Kenora Public Library.
