Don McDougald was all smiles, as he helped celebrate the opening of Kenora's new airport terminal.
"It's wonderful. Wonderful," he said, after a short ceremony. "It's a great day for Kenora."
McDougald has been with the airport authority for more than 30 years. Kenora's airport is one of only two in the province operated by a volunteer board.
Kenora MP Bob Nault says he's willing to help attract new airlines.
"The next step for attracting new carriers is making sure we have a core passenger group that needs this service on a regular basis," he said.
Northern Development Minister Greg Rickford says he's willing to work with airlines on ways to reduce flying costs.
"Things are improving, but these new airports get built and it's still not offering residents an opportunity to fly out of here affordably," he noted.
