The focus will be on treaties today at Beaver Brae. Treaty 3 Grand Chief Francis Kavanaugh and Indigenous Affairs Minister Greg Rickford will be special guests for a special edition of the living library.
The grand chief represents 28 First Nations in northwestern Ontario and eastern Manitoba. They are linked to the Crown through the Treaty of 1873.
Indigenous Affairs Minister Greg Rickford is also the MPP for Kenora-Rainy River. At Queen's Park, the MPP is also the minister responsible for Northern Development and Mines, as well as Energy.
The Living Library project puts an emphasis on storytelling and oral history by putting a human face to past events. The project is also meant to tell these stories, often dealing with difficult topics, in a comfortable and relaxed setting.
