Kenora member Greg Rickford is also a senior member of provincial cabinet, and he says help is on its way, when it comes to the issues facing the Kenora Jail.
"This has been a difficult number of weeks for guards, for administration and -- fair enough -- for the inmates," he said Friday.
Inmates and staff have been on edge, following a hostage taking and fires at the jail last month.
Rickford was asked about the situation at the jail, as well as the involvement of First Nation leaders in the justice system, by Grand Chief Francis Kavanaugh during the Treaty 3 fall assembly in Eagle Lake.
Michael Tibollo, the MPP for Vaughan-Woodbridge in southern Ontario, is currently the minister responsible for Community Safety and Correctional Services.
