It may be a while before the fire ban is lifted, despite the rain. Chris Marchand from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry explains.
"It's been so long, since we've had significant precipitation, even after we've had a good, soaking rain we made need a bit more to seal the deal," he said.
Marchand notes drought conditions this summer mean forests fires can still be ignited by lightning strikes.
