It was great turn out this year for municipal elections across the region. Kenora MP Bob Nault thinks it's a good indicator of things to come.
"I think more and more people see municipal politics as a place where you can get things done," he said.
He's happy to see so many voters taking an interest.
"There is getting to be a larger and larger turn out every election. Whatever the electoral officers are doing, and the clerks, and the politicians municipally, it seems to be working. We're getting more and more interest," he said.
He added there is also more of an interest from people looking to represent their municipality.
"The calibre of people that are running, and the calibre of people that are getting elected are amazing. The interest in running for office this go around, in our municipalities in our region, I think is unprecedented in the years that I've been involved,"
Greg Wilson will have another turn as Mayor of Dryden, while Dan Reynard will take over as Mayor of Kenora.
The newly elected mayors and councillors take over in December.
