Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh was in the region this week. He stopped off in Kenora yesterday to talk to students at the local high schools.
"It's awesome. Kids are super amazing. They're sometimes a bit shy and nervous, and it can take them a while to come out of their shell, but once they come out of their shell they have so much to share," he said.
Singh said the northern tour was a chance for him to come meet with communities.
"The theme of the tour has been the north. I met with MPs, MPPs, and members of the new democratic party constituencies to get a sense of what's going on in the north and what people care about," he said.
Singh started off his tour in Thunder Bay, and also paid a visit to Grassy Narrows where he learned more about the mercury contamination in the area.
