Stace Gander is the new manager for community services with the City of Kenora, which means he now oversees recreation, as well as the museum and tourism.
The community has been struggling to hang on to its senior staff, and Gander is the fourth person in the position over the last two years.
Matt Boscariol and Andrew Glassco have also served in the position, since Colleen Neil left the city to become executive director for the Sunset Country Family Health Team.
Gander has previously worked for BDC (Business Development Corporation), as well as Bell Aliant and KMTS. Boscariol is now the general manager with Brazeau County near Edmonton, while Glassco is the CAO for Victoria Beach in Manitoba.
In 2016, the mayor estimated 75 per cent of the city's supervisory staff were new, due in part to retirements and restructuring. As a result, council has been working on ways to improve retention strategies.
