It has been a busy few days for OFSAA convener and Saints Senior Girls Volleyball coach Megan Derouard. The OFSAA competition wrapped up in Kenora yesterday.
Derouard talked about the success of the event.
"What a week it's been. Not very often do you get an opportunity to host an OFSAA championship, because it en-tales so much work. But you find the right people, and you have to build a village in order to make it work, and I had the most amazing team," she said.
Derouard said she couldn't have done it without all the help she received from volunteers and co workers.
"I'm a very very small piece of the puzzle here. I was just lucky that I had a dream and some of my best friends, who I work with everyday, made it come true. The kids have been amazing, and what a great display of team work throughout the whole tournament. The volleyball was phenomenal. We just don't see that type of athleticism around Kenora, and I'm just so proud we got to bring this event to our city," she said.
In total 16 teams competed in the provincial competition, including the Saints girls. École secondaire Académie catholique Mère-Teresa took home the gold medal.
