Weather specialist Geoff Coulson says rainfall this week may lead to cleaner skies.
"I think really the key to getting some of that particulate out of the atmosphere is some precipitation," he said Monday.
Firefighters in the forest are also welcoming the cooler, wet conditions.
"Not only are the showers to help combat the firest themselves, but also to wash out the atmosphere itself and clean it up," Coulson added.
The hazy, red sunsets are being caused by smoke from forest fires in the region, as well as across western Canada and the U.S., the forecaster noted.
