Kenora-Rainy River member Greg Rickford's in Iqaluit this week. He's attending an energy and mining minister's conference in Nunavut, and the minister's expecting good things.
"We share a passion for the opportunity for Indigenous communities, municipalities and the province to benefit from this opportunity," he said.
The minister for Northern Development and Mining notes Ontario represents about 25 per cent of the country's mining revenues.
"Toronto is the undisputed finance capital of the world, when it comes to mining," he continued.
Rickford added he hoped to see provincial investments of $526 million in the industry climb to more than $600 million.
Last year, the federal, provincial and territorial ministers agreed to work together on creating new export markets, implementing initiatives for clean growth and climate change. as well as modernize regulations.
