Northern Development Minister Greg Rickford had a blunt message for opposition critic Michael Gravelle, when the issue of twinning the Trans-Canada came up.
"There's a question out there," the Rickford asked, during last week's Question Period. "Where'd the money go?"
Gravelle was looking for a commitment from the provincial government on the twinning of three sections of Highway 17. The former minister for northern development in the previous government wanted to know if the current Tory government was going to be lobbying Ottawa for funds.
Rickford -- who was part of the original announcement of $100 million for twinning the Trans-Canada -- repeated the government's commitment to the project. He added the section from the Manitoba border to Kenora could start construction next fall. However, he says the money initially set aside is now missing.
