Northern Development Minister Greg Rickford says -- in a recent teleconference -- the province is getting ready to begin consultations on resource revenue sharing with municipalities, as well as First Nations.
"I suspect in the following budget (2020), we'll signal a clear intention to do that for Indigenous communities, as well as municipalities," he said.
The policy was an important part of the provincial government's northern campaign in the last election.
Northern Development Minister Greg Rickford also emphasizes the province needs to cut redtape, in an effort to make it easier for the mining sector to start new projects.
"Everything is on the table. We're going to do a full scale review of the Far North Act," he stated.
Rickford says companies are putting off -- or simply shelving -- projects in the north, due to the hundreds of approvals needed.
