Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford may not get much of a holiday break. That's because he's also Ontario's energy minister, and hydro workers are threatening to strike.
Rickford was recalled to Queen's Park Friday, as the province looks to avoid power outages over the holidays. In a statement released last week, the minister said he was ready to do whatever was required to protect the health and safety of the people of Ontario.
A promise to reduce hydro bills helped get the Tories elected last June, hydro workers have been without a contract since the spring.
Back-to-work legislation and arbitration is a definite possibility, as the union representing hydro workers prepares for a strike.
