With spring on the horizon, home owners and landlords are seeing a lot of snow and ice on their roofs. However, Myles Kuharski of Gillons Insurance emphasizes you aren't compelled by your insurance company to get up there and clear it off.
"There's really no direct impact to a home insurance policy, if you don't clear off your roof," Kuharski says.
In fact, he says insurers are more worried about owners slipping and falling off their roof, rather than any water damage from ice dams. That's when ice accumulates at the edge of buildings, then finds its way inside the building.
