At the height of summer, Const. Jason Canfield of the OPP is reminding swimmers to stay safe.
"There are numerous beaches in the Kenora area from Keewatin and Norman all the way over to Rabbit Lake and Lake of the Woods. They're all marked and they've been proven safe," he said in a recent interview.
If you're planning to cool off in an unmarked beach, Canfield adds swimmers are advised to take a good look around before diving in.
Officers have been busy investigating three drownings on local waterways. Police were called to McLeod Park in Kenora to address swimmers, just a day after the bodies of two drowned men were removed by divers.
"If boating at night, you have to have proper lights," he noted, referring to the importance of being seen, as well as seeing your way forward.
Two boaters collided last weekend on Clearwater Bay, resulting in injuries.
