Second Degree Murder charges laid in far north

A 20-year-old from Eabametoong First Nation, otherwise known as Fort Hope, is facing Second Degree Murder charges after the death of another community member.

48-year-old Brian Sagutch was found deceased on December 27 by members of the OPP and Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service, and a post-mortem exam is scheduled to determine his exact cause of death.

But police have arrested and charged 20-year-old Ethan Waboose of Eabametoong with Second Degree Murder. He has been remanded into custody and is set to appear in Thunder Bay courts on January 6, 2023.

Eabametoong First Nation is located about 360 km north of Thunder Bay.
