Environment Canada has issued a thunderstorm watch. Forecaster Gerald Cheng has more on the weekend forecast.
"It looks like it's going to be an unsettled weekend, and so for people who want the dry, unsettled weather it's not going to be good news," Cheng says.
"We'll be hovering around the mid to high 20's, especially in the early part of the weekend, and that is going to increase the severity of these storms," he added.
The areas included in the severe thunderstorm watch are:
- Grassy Narrows
- Sioux Narrows
- Nestor Falls
Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of:
- dangerous thunderstorms, that may be capable of producing
- damaging wind gusts,
- damaging hail and
- heavy rain.
Forecasters say thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon as a warm front from Minnesota approaches the Canadian border. A few of these thunderstorms could be severe and warnings may need to be issued for the afternoon and evening hours.
