There's still a bit of winter left to go, so it was nice for Sara Burt and her young family to take shelter from the storm at Pope John Paul II in Kenora.
"I've met up with quite a few families, who I haven't seen in quite a while," said Burt yesterday.
Kids from infants to six-year-olds were happy to come with their parents to the gym at the school for some fun and games.
With all the snow, Matt Meronyk and his daughter -- 21-month-old Emilia -- were happy to find refuge.
"In the wintertime, it's tough to find places for them to go, without getting them all bundled up," he said.
Liz Andrews from Firefly was also on hand to help out.
"Very happy, because this year has been exceptionally cold in January and February. It's been really good to have somewhere to go," she said.
Over the last couple of months, Andrews says they've had about a hundred people out each week.
The open gym moves to Tuesday's next week, and it'll be sponsored in part by the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board.
