Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh paid a visit to Grassy Narrows First Nation yesterday, before meeting with party faithful in Kenora.
At Grassy Narrows, Singh talked with community reporters about how to clean up mercury in the First Nation's land and water system, as well as ways to ensure that the local school is adequately resourced. The fundraiser in the evening wasn't open to the media.
Singh is on a four-day tour of northwestern Ontario that included a stop in Thunder Bay Sunday, where he addressed the issue of youth suicides among Indigenous youth.
Today's schedule includes meeting with high school students at Beaver Brae and St. Thomas Aquinas.
Singh will be talking about civics with Mr. Penner's Grade 10 class in the morning, before moving over to T.A., where he'll be encouraging youth to join the political process.
