Students from the Grade 11/12 Culinary Class at TA paid a visit to residents at Pinecrest yesterday. Teacher Katie McNulty explained what they did.
"My kids made all the cookies, and we brought them all here, just so it streamlines the process. Then they can decorate them and enjoy them. It's lots of fun," she said.
The initiative is part of the Montessori for Dementia - Culinary Activities program.
McNulty said they have visited residents a couple times this month, and hope to visit again in January before the semester ends.
Grade 12 student John Everson-Corriveau talked about the experience.
"I really enjoy it. I just hope people come and spend time with them, like our classes and our school usually does" he said.
McNulty said she would bring her culinary students to interact with the residents again next school year, but she would plan to start the visits in September.
