The OPP is investigating the death of a Whitedog First Nation resident.

On Friday, July 6, members of the Kenora OPP were dispatched to a report of a man that had entered into the water at the Goshawk Lake landing in Whitedog First Nation, and did not surface. Members of the OPP Marine and Trails Unit, OPP Crime Unit, Treaty Three Police Service, Kenora Ambulance and family members all attended the scene to search for the male.

The male was located and transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The OPP have identified the man as 27-year-old Desmond Boyd of Whitedog First Nation.

There were two drownings in Kenora last Thursday.  By Friday evening, divers recovered the bodies of 19-year-old Arwinder Brar and 20-year-old Pawan Preet Brar of Winnipeg in the water near McLeod Park.
