It's not too early to think about water safety.
Mounties from Lac du Bonnet responded to a drowning yesterday at Nopiming Provincial Park. Parents at Tulabi Falls Campground lost their son.
Lac du Bonnet RCMP responded around 11:30 a.m. to a possible drowning. Emergency Medical Services personnel were already on scene providing medical assistance to a three-year-old male child from Winnipeg when officers arrived. The child was later pronounced deceased.
The preliminary investigation has determined that the boy was camping in the area with family. Mounties say the child was playing with a group of children in the campground, when he wandered away.
Police say the three-year-old's absence was quickly noticed, and he was found a short time later by family members in a nearby body of water. Family members provided medical assistance to the child until first responders arrived.
Mounties say the death is not considered to be suspicious and the investigation is ongoing.
