If you're venturing out onto the ice roads on Lake of the Woods, take extra careful crossing Treaty Island. Drivers had to take extra care avoiding previous mishaps, as they crossed over the island Sunday.
While ice roads in the area are definitely open, motorists are still reminded to take extra care and watch carefully for changing conditions. Water levels on the lake dipped an inch last week, and engineers with the control board expect levels to drop another inch next week.
After a stretch of Arctic cold, milder weather is expected to last into the work week. Snow and blowing snow is also anticipated, making navigation a bit more difficult.
