The Kenora detachment of the OPP is currently searching for two missing fishermen, as emergency responders deal with the snowfall in the area.

Yesterday, police in Kenora and Fort Frances were dispatched to the report of the two missing men, from the Buena Vista resort on the southern end of the Lake of the Woods. It was reported that the boat was last seen near Fadden’s Island on October 9.

The OPP Marine and Trails Unit responded on the water, but were unable to locate the missing men. The OPP’s Emergency Response Team is also on scene to assist in the search, and a helicopter has been requested, but the arrival is dependant on the weather conditions. The Coast Guard is also involved in the search and rescue efforts.

The first male is said to be 43-years-old, 6’3, approximately 230 lbs, wearing camo overalls, a blue rain jacket and brown boots. The second male is said to be 75-years-old, wearing a camo snow suit with green boots and an orange hat.

The boat is a silver, 16’ Alumamarine boat with a 25 horsepower Yamaha motor. The boat reportedly ran out of fuel on October 9.

Anyone with any information regarding the missing men is asked to immediately contact the Kenora OPP at 1-888-310-1122, or 807-548-5534.
