The Lake of the Woods Control Board is continuing to ensure safe water levels in the area.
A small flow reduction took place on Monday and yesterday, and more flow reductions have been planned for the next week on January 28 and January 31. Reducing flow is necessary to avoid water levels dropping too quickly.
With each flow reduction, water levels on the Winnipeg River are expected to drop between 1 to 3 inches, depending on how far downstream you are from the dam. There are larger changes closer to the dam, and smaller changes the further away you are.
The control board says that inflow to Lake of the Woods has been declining, and the outflow from Rainy Lake was reduced yesterday morning.
