Wabauskang member Percy Cameron finds working with power tools relaxing. That's because he makes chainsaw carvings.
"I find it very, very relaxing," he said. "It gives me great pleasure to know I've made somebody happy."
Cameron's also getting into writing, and he may soon need an apprentice, as his hands start to get old.
"I know it'll be a past-time, for me, when I get older. It'll be a good retirement for me to fall back on," he added.
Cameron's been carving now for five years, and his work includes the eagle at the entrance of Seven Generations in Kenora. He's also writing.
"In my culture I'm eagle clan, and the eagle represents love. If I can pass out love with the carving, then I want to do that," he says.
Cameron also works with inmates at the Kenora Jail. He acknowledges the carving and the writing help him to express himself.
