The Terry Fox Foundation has nearly $2500.00 going towards cancer research all because of the efforts and bravery of students and staff at King George VI School in Kenora!
Students participated in the Annual Terry Fox Run and raised money for the foundation – but were given an extra task by the faculty.
Vice-Principal Nicole Vingerhoeds and Secretary Vanessa Nieminen challenged the students to raise $1500.00 and if they did, the faculty members would cut off their hair!
Not only did the students raise the designated amount, they surpassed it by $1000.00 and both Mrs. Vingerhoeds and Mrs. Nieminen made true to their bet.
Today, in front of 250 students in the gymnasium – they took the scissors to their hair. In good fun, the ladies invited a few of the students to take turns cutting their hair (of course with the help from professional, Sandra Ivanowich!).
Mrs. Vingerhoeds and Mrs. Nieminen may have a shorter (and great looking) cut they don't come without benefits. The Terry Fox Foundation has more funds and their hair will be going towards a charity of their choice.
Great job, everyone!
