Dakota House was actually a household name, when he starred in North of 60 and joined the cast of The X-files in the '90s.

The stardom led to a life of parties with lots of alcohol. That's until he was beaten to within an inch of his life, by his friends.

While visiting his hometown of Edmonton, House had a near-death experience, then decided to turn his life around.

As a well-known actor, he found himself living in a fishbowl, without any privacy and lots of allegations. Today, he guards his privacy and takes pleasure in living a clean life.

He's also sharing his appreciation for life with youth across the country. Earlier this month, he visited with youth at Grassy Narrows, where he offered some encouragement and support.
