I'm a huge fan of fishing and was happy to have attended the 15th Annual Falcon Lake Winter Fish-Off this weekend!
Our station manager, Dan McCann and I headed west on a perfect Saturday morning in hopes of winning the grand prize of $15,000.00! We couldn't have asked for a better day to be out on the ice, as temperatures were well above zero and not a cloud in the sky was to be seen.
We scoped out a few holes amongst 4200, yes, 4200! We dropped our lines at 11:00am and I immediately got something! Nope, not a fish. Weeds. Wonderful.
Hours went by and we saw many a person bringing their fish in to be weighed as a over $100,000.00 in prizes were available to be won, even for the small ones!
Andrew Robertson took home $15,000.00 after reeling up the biggest pike weighing in a 10.4lbs and Jane Arenal went home with $11,000.00 after winning the 50/50 draw. A Winnipeg resident took home a brand new AlumaCraft boat for hitting the hidden weight contest bang-on with a whopping 1.66lb pike! (Even the small ones counted that day!)
The week prior to the tournament, Kyle Brooks was the Q Morning Show's lucky winner of two tickets to the derby, and I'm sure he was glad he called in that day! Kyle came in ninth at 3.5lbs and won himeself a Shimano Ultimate PackageCurdado & Stradic CI4, Curado & Curado, Power Pro, Gear! Way to go, Kyle!
Dan and I got nothing. But, hey! We had a blast and we are definitely headed back to Falcon for next year's tournament!
