Well Canada, we made it! So much stuff happened in Kenora to celebrate Canada 150.
To start the day, there was a specialty market under the Whitecap Pavilion. Most of the regular Matiowski Farmers' Market vendors were there along with some new faces. Q104 set up in our regular spot to give away ballots for our 2017 Polaris RZR from WSL Sport & Leisure, sell tickets for our Q104 Cash Draw for the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation and we gave out Hot Sticky Things, which are your key to winning this summer!
Down at McLeod Park there was a celebration for Husky the Musky, after all it is his 50th birthday. To celebrate, there was cake, face painting and so much more! The Rotary Club of Kenora held their annual Lucky Duck Race down there, too. Congratulations to the big winner Chris LeVasseur!
At 12:00pm it was time for the big parade down Main Street. Everyone was included from the Kenora Scottish Pipes and Drums, Kenora Roller Derby League, lots of fancy cars and SO many horses! Even Q104 was part of the fun!
After the parade, events really kicked off in the parking lot in front of the MS Kenora. Starting with an amazing performance from Kenora's own Freaky Green Beetles! There was a bouncy castle, face painting station, and free Root Beer floats. After the Freaky Green Beetles, there were performances by Christine the Crazy Hooper and Floyd the Clown.
And remember, the festivities aren't over yet, the fireworks are happening down on the Harbourfront at 10:45pm!
