Patients looking for a family doctor may not have to wait much longer. A new doctor is on her way.
The Kenora All Nations Health Partners including the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, Waasegiizhig Nanaandawe’iyewigamig, and the Sunset Country Family Health Team, are proud to announce that Dr. Meghan Olson has joined our community as a Family Medicine physician. Dr. Olson will be offering service to patients at the Keewatin Medical Clinic and Lake of the Woods District Hospital with focus on Family Medicine, Obstetrics, Emergency Department and Hospitalist work. The arrival of Dr. Olson expands the roster of available physicians dedicated to the health and well-being of the community and the district.
Dr. Olson attended medical school at the Cumming School of Medicine in Calgary, Alberta where she spent two years in the city of Calgary and a third clinical year in the small community of Pincher Creek, Alberta. Following this she completed her residency through the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM). Dr. Olson has a special interest in Women’s health and is excited to participate in the simulation teaching experiences with the NOSM medical students.
Although Dr. Olson is new to the Family Medicine position she is not new to Kenora! Returning home to her family has always been a priority and she now has her dream practice opportunity where she can utilize her full-scope of medicine skills with amazingly supportive colleagues. The Lake of the Woods District Hospital and partner organizations continue to develop its Family Medicine program through recruitment efforts with the goal of attracting skilled physicians to Kenora. Dr. Olson is one of three Family Medicine physicians who have joined our community this fall. The arrival of Dr. Olson is the result of dedicated community recruitment efforts, all of whom are excited about the new addition to the Kenora healthcare community.
Dr. Olson has an official start date of Dec 1st, 2018 where she will begin to roster patients from the Healthcare Connect list. If you do not have a family physician and would like to have access to one of the new Primary Care Providers joining our community, and prospective patients are encouraged to register on Healthcare Connect.
