Highway 17 is a major route for Northwestern Ontarians and its maintenance affects everybody – especially in the winter.
Currently, highway maintenance is in the hands of the private sector and the “We Own It” campaign is working on bringing it back to the public sector, which they feel would benefit drivers (taxpayers) as the quality of maintenance would increase.
There will be a public Town Hall meeting on the privatization of highway plowing in Ontario where the community can learn more about the We Own It campaign and the benefits of getting highway maintenance back to the public sector. This will be taking place Wednesday, April 4 at the Clarion Lakeside Inn & Conference Centre in the Cascade Room from 6:30-8:30pm.
Derrick Lamarche, with the campaign, will be in tomorrow on the Q Morning Show just after 8:00am to fill us in!
