Caleb McLaughlin is making the best of it. He's a gas pump attendant in Kenora, who's braving the elements.
"It doesn't really change anything. You've just gotta dress for the cold, put on extra layers. I'm wearing four layers of clothes right now," he said, yesterday afternoon.
With the wind chill, the overnight low dropped to minus 45.
Davis Perchuk, on the other hand, was more matter-of-fact, when talking about the cold. After all, he helps look after the ski lifts at Mount Evergreen.
"It's a little cold, but you start moving around you keep nice and warm," he said, before heading out. "Lots of layers and lots of balaclavas trying to keep warm."
Due to the extreme cold, lessons and programs at the hill were cancelled.
More seasonal temperatures are in the forecast for Tuesday.
