Manny Smith's among the new recruits. He was part of the Soldier for a Day at the Armouries.
"After today, I'm thinking about going into the Kenora reserves," he said, during the lunch break. "I'll get more training under my break. It'd be pretty cool."
After the experience, the Sioux Lookout resident's hoping to join the 116th Independent Field Battery. The reserve unit's based in Kenora.
As a student at Queen Elizabeth District High School, Smith said he'd tried the Bald Eagle program and liked it. Now that he's finished school, Smith says he'd like to continue with military training.
