June is Pride month and this weekend, there will be a bunch of free activities to celebrate the diversity of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Questioning, Asexual, Two-Spirit, and Ally community of Kenora.
Beginning tonight, there will be an open mic and storytelling night from 6-8:00pm at the new KACL Arts Hub. Everyone is invited to play their music, listen and share their stories.
Tomorrow at Anicinabe Park beginning at 11:00am, there will be a BBQ with burgers, hot dogs and cake! There will be a variety of community organizations in attendance, including the Canadian Mental Health Association, who will be helping out with the sign making for the parade.
The parade will get going around 5:00pm starting up at the Lake of the Woods Museum and go to Husky the Muskie where the Honourable Bob Nault will address the public.
Everyone is welcome to join in on the parade and are encouraged to bring banners, flags and voices to support family, friends and allies!
Sunday, there will be a Pride Worship at Knox United Church at 9:45am with tea, coffee and muffins. Following at 1:00pm there's a Powwow styles dance teaching with Anishinaabe artist Waawaate Fobister!
