Susan Gladys Goda
November 29, 1943 – February 13, 2024

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Susan Gladys Goda, loving mother, grandmother, and friend on February 13, 2024, at the age of 80.

Susan will be forever missed by her daughters Sandy (Kirby) and Cindy (Willie), son Doug, grandchildren Steven, Jake, Jamie, Cody, Kimberly (Keegan), Keaton, Bennett, and Hardy, and by sister Mary Shaw. Susan also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. In passing she will rejoin her parents Orley Neuert and Myrtle Deverell, stepfather Hank Deverell, husband of 43 years John, brother Doug Neuert, and sister Doreen McDonald.

Susan was born in Sioux Lookout, ON, on November 29, 1943. As a young child she later moved to Redditt, ON which would remain her home until her passing. It was there that Susan met and married her husband John in 1962 and they soon welcomed their first child Sandy, later followed by Cindy and Doug.

Over the years Susan made many friends while working at Ontario Central Airlines, McDonald and Son grocery, Robinson’s, and Loaf N’ Jug, where she was fondly remembered for her friendliness, sense of humor, and quick wit. One always knew where they stood with Susan, which was one of her most beloved traits.

Yet, beneath her feisty exterior, Susan had a huge heart. She was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. From weekly shopping trips and nights spent on the porch overlooking Basket Lake, to cooking up a storm for family dinners and baking for her grandkids, these were some of the many joys that Susan shared with her family. She especially enjoyed the thrill of casino trips, particularly to her favorite spots South Beach and Club Regent, where she made lasting memories with her son-in-law Kirby and granddaughter Kim.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lorraine Dooley for her exceptional care and compassion, always going above and beyond in caring for Susan so that she could remain at home with her family. Susan was overjoyed and grateful to live her final days surrounded by her children and grandchildren in Redditt. They are also very grateful to Cathy Trask for her comforting presence, encouragement, and support during her visits with Susan.

A private graveside service and a luncheon for family and friends will follow in Redditt, ON at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Redditt Bottle House in memory of Susan. The Redditt Bottle House, built by Susan’s mother Myrtle and stepfather Hank, holds a special place in her family’s history. Donations can be made in care of Sandy Korobanik, who can be contacted for further details.
