Margaret ‘Mugs” Leone Mathieson
May 22,1944 – March 1, 2024

Mugs Mathieson, avid connoisseur of all things coffee, butter, bacon and maple syrup, fiercely loving and beloved Mother, Sister, Nana, Aunty, Cousin, Daughter, Mother-in-law, ruthless competitor of Scrabble, Yahtzee, blackjack and surprisingly, Cards against Humanity, badass Court Manager, Justice of the Peace and Sheriff, lifelong devotee to the honourable sport of Curling, admirer of lilacs, pussy willows, maple tree helicopters, robins, chickadees, butterflies, lover of lake swims, canoe paddling, the smell of cut grass and Jergens lotion (only Original please), devoted companion to the Wee Furry One Giorgio, reluctant eater of vegetables, road tripper and traveller extraordinaire, provider of a soft place to land for those in need, recognized by babies and small animals as the embodiment of warmth and love, and ardent jazz fan.

Mugs said, with her infectious laugh, she came into this world “broke, lazy and a red head I will leave the same way” and without a doubt she lived her life by the spirit of those words, always from a place of profound abundance, understanding personal wealth is a chosen way of moving through each day, not a bank account balance, expending her impressive personal and professional energy and intellect on only those things that were close to her heart and important to her, and meeting each & every day- including her last glorious day – with her gorgeous red hair done, manicure & pedicure immaculate, lipstick and her signature outfit on.

With her unerring grace and ease Mugs departed this earth on her own terms on March 1, 2024, after lovingly sharing all her wit, beauty, love, hugs and laughter with all her family, friends and adoring fans for 80 years; to run barefoot on the grass, drink coffee on the deck and swim “nudie booties” in the lakes of heaven.

Maarsii Migishi for lending your wings to our Mugs for her journey to join her Ancestors.

To the moon and back forever sweet Momma.
