December 7, 1938 – March 2, 2024

It is with extreme sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Elsie Caron on March 2, 2024 at the lake of the Woods District hospital.

Left to mourn her passing is her loving husband Garry David Caron. She will forever be missed by her sisters, Gloria (Ken) Woytiuk, Theresa (Allan) Syganiec; and numerous in laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elsie was predeceased by her parents Steve and Ksenia (1974), oldest brother Michael (1956), brother Stephen (1977), sister Delores Romas (2005), brother-in-law Wally (2004), brother Peter (2012), sister Patsy Romas (2015) and sister Stephanie (2017).

Elsie was born in Winnipeg on December 7, 1938. She grew up on the family farm in Cook’s Creek, along with her seven siblings. Elsie worked all her life in various capacities, office, sales, she owned and operated Bay City Hotel in Keewatin, Ontario. She was an excellent cook and we will all miss her Ukrainian dinners.

Elsie had many friends in Kenora who cared and loved her. She was an involved parishioner at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Kenora. She was an active member of the Ladies Society and belonged to the Canadian Royal Purple Society.

Elsie was the heart and soul of our family and will be sadly missed by all.

A funeral liturgy will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 430 – 4th Street North, Kenora, Ontario with Father John Mostivsky officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elsie’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Cancer Care Manitoba.
