It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our angel, mother, daughter, granddaughter, niece, auntie cousin and friend Caitlyn Marie Jean Skead, a resident of Wauzhushk Onigum Nation passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

She is survived by her parents Emma (Kristopher) Chartrand, and Gordon Pahpasay, her children Athryn and Angel White, her siblings Hayley (Jordan), Kurt, Logan, Malcolm Powassin, Darrian Loon, Sally Kokopenace, Pierre and Gordenea Pahpasay, grandmother Dorothy Skead, her aunts and uncles Linda, Patricia, Derek, Jane, Lucy, Thomas and Marvin Pahpasay, great aunts Linda, Karen, Debbie and great uncle Kenneth, cousins Fawn and Bear Copenace, Nathan RedCloud, Aiden, Cedric and Simone Herbert, Taryn, Cori and Maverick Maracle, Ryver RedCloud, Raven and Cayla Beacham, as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends both from Grassy Narrows and Wauzhushk Onigum Nations.

She was predeceased by her sister Corina (Tiny) Skead, her shoomis Frederick (Oscar) Skead and Thomas Payash, her grandmother Mary Pahpasay, her great aunt Rosemary Greene, Aunt Elizabeth Pahpasay, Uncle Isaac Pahpasay.

Caitlyn enjoyed life, she was a jingle dress dancer in her younger years, was outspoken and independent, she was a great mother who enjoyed barbecuing, ice fishing, sewing and enjoyed playing video games and had a great sense of humour, she also enjoyed coloring and art, she built long lasting relationships with many of her friends and relatives, she loved hair and makeup.

Pallbearers will be Kurt and Logan Powassin. Sheldon Kavanaugh, Kristopher Chartrand, Nathan RedCloud and Maverick Maracle, Curtis Powassin and Cedric Herbert

The family of Caitlyn Marie Jean Skead would like to extend sincere migwetches to Wauzhushk Onigum Chief and Council and all those who offered support emotionally and financially, we would also like to thank the Dr.’s and Nurses at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnpeg, as well as many other friends and relatives too numerous to name but acknowledge each and every one.

In honour of Caitlyn there will be a wake commencing Monday, April 1, 2024 beginning at 11:00 am at Golden Eagle Casino, Wauzhushk Onigum Nation. A traditional funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 10:00 am at Golden Eagle Casino with cremation to follow.
