Jerica Rane Williams
September 8, 2004 – April 1, 2024

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful girl Jerica Rane (daughter, sister, auntie and granddaughter) of Kenora, Ontario.

Jerica is survived by her parents, Leona Williams (mother), Beau (stepfather), Jeremy McDonald (father), siblings, Jerden and Jerlyn, (niece) Elexsiya, grandparents momma, (Irene) and papa, (Sonny), Linda McDonald (paternal grandparent), Bob and Wendy Langlois (grandparents).

Jerica was predeceased by her big brother Tanner Lindstrom whom she loved very much and he always called her “baby” and brother R.J. Wesley, her uncle, Bobby and grandfather, Ron R. McDonald. She is survived by numerous family members and friends.

Jerica Rane was born in the morning on September 8, 2004 at Lake of the Woods Hospital. She was our perfect little baby with brown eyes, chubby cheeks and light brown skin. She was a very happy baby and so full of life growing up through her childhood years.

Jerica attended grade school at Pope John Paul II, Saint Thomas Aquinas high school and Beaver Brae high school eventually graduating from KAA’NAA’MATAY WIIGIIAM in Washagamis Bay First Nation. Jerica was a very smart and dedicated student throughout her school years. Jerica worked at various jobs including, Moncrief Construction Limited, Pet Value, and Beaver Tails where she demonstrated her maturity and capabilities.

In the fall of 2023, Jerica enrolled in the Community and Justice Services Program at Algonquin Community College in Ottawa, Ontario. A new chapter in her life, Jerica was excited and happy to begin her studies, meeting new friends and working towards her independence. She was well respected and liked by her peers.

Jerica was looking forward to coming home seeing her dogs and family in three weeks. She had plans on finding a job for the summer and returning to college in the fall. She had a bright future ahead of her with many goals.

Jerica loved all animals but her family pets were the most precious to her, Yogi-Doo was her favourite boy dog, her dog Tj was her girl, her dog Twilight was also her girl who she grew up with for 15 years and Zoey was her cat, they will all miss her. Jerica enjoyed fishing with papa, going for walks with her dogs. She loved listening to music, watching movies, drawing, painting, doing her makeup and hair and she liked to go out and dance. Her favourite outing was going thrifting with her friends to find clothes. Jerica had a passion for collecting crystals; she displayed many in her room. Her room was a reflection of who she was, it was cozy, warm, and a place she loved to spend time relaxing with her pets.

Jerica was a sweet quiet shy girl with a soft-spoken voice. She had a big beautiful smile and a kind soul.

When Leona met Beau, Jerica was very protective of her mom, while standing in between them, she said “don’t touch my mommy “. Beau took Jerica under his wing and helped raise her. He attended her important milestones, graduation and driving her to Algonquin College (move in day). She always made her parents proud.

When she told her momma and papa about her acceptance letter to Algonquin College, they were extremely happy and proud of her and her future. They provided unconditional love and support throughout her life, which she will, deeply missed by them.

Jerica was able to do some travelling in her life. She went to Toronto with her high school and then travelled with her mom to Dominican Republic a few times, Mexico, Jamaica and British Columbia.

Jerica and her mother were very close and were always together which they had an unbreakable bond. She has left a void in our hearts that is incomprehensible.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her roommate, Jules for coming to Jerica’s side. Thanks to the Algonquin College for honouring my daughter and to her friends and classmates for sharing their college life experience with Jerica. During her time at the college, many were touched greatly by Jerica’s light. She was loved and will be missed by many.

The family also sends a thank you to all the medical team at the Ottawa Heart Institute who worked diligently to try and save our beautiful Jerica. Thank you to Wauzhushk Onigum First Nation and to all those who have supported our family through this terrible loss.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jerica’s memory to It’s a Dogs Life.

We love you so much, no words can describe the pain of how much we miss you. May you now walk in peace with your brother Tanner.

A visitation for Jerica will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Kenora, Ontario. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre with cremation to follow.
