It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Merv Reynard at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital on April 7, 2024.

He is survived by his family who will greatly miss their Dad, Grandpa, GiGipa, Brother and Uncle, his children Lanna (husband Jody), Lawrence (wife Bonnie), grandchildren Veronica and Jacqueline, Karen and Abel, Jeremy and Jeffrey and his little man, great-grandson Giocel, his sister Mabel and many nieces and nephews. sisters-in-law, Alda Parmeter, Lois Mensch, Lillian Marchant, Olive-Mae Sveinsson and brother-in-law David Sveinsson.

He was born in Kenora, June 16, 1941, and was proud to be born and raised in Kenora.

Merv was well known and loved by so many. A successful business owner, he owned the Shell Gas Stations on Hwy 17 East and on Second Street in Kenora. Many will remember one of their first jobs may have been pumping gas or working the till at one of his stations.

After retiring from Shell, Merv started driving Cab and being a co-owner of CO-OT Taxi. He drove a taxi almost every day until June 2023, when the onset of mixed dementia stole pieces of him. Merv was easily recognized in his Taxi with his quick smile and a wave. He will be missed by his co-workers and the local community.

Merv was an active member of the Knight of Columbus where he was a Fourth Degree Knight. He was a devout Roman Catholic and lived his life with faith. Most of all, Merv was devoted to his family. He was our rock and compass, so proud of his grandchildren and his children. Our successes are because of his unwavering love, support and guidance.

We will miss him terribly and we find comfort in knowing he was had a joyful heavenly reunion with his beautiful wife Elaine, we have missed our Mom and Grandma and celebrate them being together.

A funeral mass for Mervin will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 11:00 am at Notre Dame Roman du Portage Catholic Church, Kenora, Ontario with Father Rudy Manaloto officiating.
