The City of Kenora is trying to decide what to do with an excess of infrastructure funding.
The city has about $162,000 to put towards one project.
Manager of Engineering David Mellor says they’ve narrowed it down to five potential locations, including the intersection at 12th Avenue and 9th Street North.
“Anybody that drives that location can certainly understand that at this time of year it needs some work,” Mellor told city council.
“This would allow us to replace the intersection where there is large potholes forming and creating issues for the roads staff. It’s a major road, high traffic area.”
Other areas being considerer are the intersection of Matheson Street North and 1st Avenue North by the old Armories, the intersection of Veterans Drive and east towards 9th Street North, Lake Street in Keewatin, and Main Street South at the round-about.
City council favors repairing the intersection at 12 Avenue and 9th Street North, but councilors say it will leave the decision to the Engineering department as part of their paving budget this year.
